Stakeholders Commend Federation on Devt of Muaythai Sport

Stakeholders in the combatant sports of Karate, Kungfu and Kickboxing, which makeup the mixed martial arts, are throwing their support behind the development of the young sports from Thailand, called Muaythai .

In a tripartite meeting held in Ilorin, the Kwara State capital, during the 3rd National Youth Games, president of Muaythai Sports Federation of Nigeria (MFN), Comrade Egonu Eligbaesor Paul, alongside the president of Dynamite Fighting Championship (DFC) Africa/Mixed Martial Arts Federation (NMMAF), Mr Henry George, and other stakeholders in a communiqué issued after the meeting commended the leadership of Muaythai Sports Federation of Nigeria under the leadership of Comrade Egonu Paul, who succeeded the late Prince Adedeji, for successfully piloting the affairs of the MFN so Far.

On the proposed Muaythai workshop cum open championship in Ogun State, aggrieved members of the sports were advised to come together and join hands with the present leadership which has shown demonstrable capacity to develop the sports and make it acceptable to all

In his address, Henry George used the platform to commend the president of MFN for standing up for the sport, despite its teething problems since the death of the immediate past president, Prince Adedeji.

He also reminded that a letter of Introduction of Muaythai has been issued to the commissioners and directors of Sports of the 36 states of the Federation & FCT for approval, adding that there are some aggrieved member like Mr. Samuel Nweke, Okechukwu Eluagu, and Tuesday Wanjo, who he urged to come back so as to help make MFN greater in Nigeria.

The communiqué further said that the measures so far taken are to enable the sports garner the necessary public acceptance to ensure it feature in the upcoming National Sports Festival and other public games in the country.
