The St. Mark’s Anglican Church, Unenurhie in Evwreni Archdeaconary in Ughelli Diocese, Ughelli North Local Government Area of Delta State recently ended her annual harvest thanksgivings with prayers for peace, progress and development of the church and the entire Unenurhie community.

In a sermon during the service, which was the first part of the harvest thanksgivings, chairman of the newly created Evwreni Archdeaconry, Rev. Can. G.O.A. Ujevwecha, who was the guest preacher at the service, told the church congregation to always thank God from their hearts as God loves cheerful givers.

Speaking on the theme of the harvest, ‘Divine Honour,’ which was taken from the book of Gen. 26:12, the man of God told the church to thank God “at a time like this with the best,” so that God would in return bless them with the best from heaven.

In his remarks during the reception, chairman of the harvest and also a son of the soil, who is a high ranking archdeacon in Warri Diocese, Ven. Dr. R.M.U. Obegor, thanked the vicar of the church and guests for their support to the growth and development of the church at all times.

In the same vein, another member of the clergy who is also a son of the soil and a priest in Warri Diocese, Rev. Dr. Gentle Omohwo Imudje, commended the efforts towards development of the church.

In his appreciation to the dignitaries and guests present during the harvest, the vicar of the church, Rev. Peter Atumremu, who was full of joy said, “On behalf of the church, we have nothing to offer to you for your great financial, moral and spiritual support than to thank you for this kind gesture and benevolence. We pray that God will continue to bless and promote all of you in your different endeavours and ministries in Jesus name.

“However, in the same way, we are also soliciting from our brothers and sisters especially those in the diaspora to come to our aid,” he said.

Among those that graced this year’s harvest thanksgivings were Mr. and Mrs. Peter Maison, the president-general of Unenurhie community, Evang. and Evang. Mrs. James Ovwighose, Hon.
