The Sole Administrator of Rivers State, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (rtd), has charged the people of Ogba/Egbema/Ndoni Local Government Area (ONELGA) to uphold peace as a vital pillar for sustainable development.
The call was made during a town hall meeting held at Omoku, the ONELGA headquarters, where critical stakeholders, including security agencies, traditional rulers, youth groups, and community leaders, gathered to reinforce security and progress in the area.
Represented by the Rivers State Commissioner of Police, CP Olugbenga Adepoju, alongside a high-level delegation of security chiefs, the Sole Administrator emphasized that “without peace, no meaningful development can thrive.” He assured residents of the state government’s commitment to strategic engagement and inclusive collaboration to enhance security and socio-economic growth across ONELGA.
The Sole Administrator declared that “peace is not negotiable” and called on all stakeholders—youths, traditional leaders, women, and security agencies to work together to maintain stability.
He directed the ONELGA Sole Administrator, Dr. Chukwuma Ajie, to hold regular town hall meetings to address grievances and foster harmony.
CP Adepoju urged youths and community leaders to safeguard government facilities and report abandoned but essential projects for prompt intervention.
Responding, Dr. Chukwuma Ajie commended the improved security situation in ONELGA, declaring the area “safe and open for investors.”
He praised security agencies for restoring order and encouraged continued cooperation with the state government.
Representatives from various zones raised pressing issues, to which CP Adepoju responded by requesting written submissions for further action by the state government.
