Elekima Promises Robust Transformation

The Social Democratic Party’s governorship flag-bearer in Rivers State, Chief (Sir) Precious Elekima, has rolled out plans for the “total transformation of Rivers State if voted into power come 2019.”

He made this known in his address during the party’s formal kick-off of campaigns at No.1 field in the Old Port Harcourt Township.

Elekima said he is committed to raising the bar of governance and creating an enabling environment to fast-track development in the state, adding that every man deserves freedom, prosperity and peace.

He frowned at the level of poverty in the land, stressing that we cannot get it right when some people are living in comfort, while others can’t.

He conveyed the presidential candidate’s message to the mammoth crowd, saying “Everyone matters, we deserve better.”

In his vision for Rivers people, Elekima maintained that free tuition fees at all levels of education will be his top priority as well as establishment of 23 industries a year and provision of vital infrastructures.

His 51-point development agenda include free health care, construction of Twin City, bridge/road connecting Njemanze-Isaka-Bakana-Old Bakana-Bukuma-Tombia-Ogbakiri-Iwofe, dualization of rail track from Port Harcourt to Oyigbo and functional train services, among others.

He further noted that what government means is “filling the gap,” adding that if the gap is not filled, there will be no way for sustainable growth. He assured his supporters of his zeal to turn Rivers State to the next business hub in West Africa and beyond, through the versatile blueprint he has offered to the people.

Earlier, the national women leader, Hajia Mariam Maggie Batubo, said the SDP has answers to Nigeria’s problems, pointing out that their candidates are young and vibrant people who can change the dynamics and turn things around. She called on the supporters to ensure that their PVCs are secured, saying that Elekima is the answer to joblessness etc. The national youth speaker of SDP and other stakeholders of the party gave solidarity speeches at the event.

The duo said they are optimistic of their chances at the forth coming election. They called on all SDP faithful and supporters to close ranks and join forces in voting Chief (Sir) Elekima into Government House.
