Sagbama Leaders Laud Governor Dickson Over Appointees

By Amos Okioma, Yenagoa

Political and traditional rulers from Sagbama Local Government Area of Bayelsa State have commended Governor Henry Seriake Dickson for appointing several indigenes from the area into his government.

The leaders, who gave the commendation during a solidarity visit to the governor at his official residence on Sunday, assured him of their unflinching support.

The governor’s special adviser on political matters, Mr. Fyneman Wilson, who spoke on behalf of the delegation, said the visit was to assure him of their resolve to stand with him as a prominent son from the area.

He thanked the governor for his support for the area, citing the recent appointment of a daughter of the local government as permanent secretary and over 30 others serving in his administration.

Wilson prayed God to bless the governor with the wisdom to continue to pilot the affairs of the state and finish strong at the end of his tenure on February 14, 2020.

On the recent governorship election in the state, the special adviser berated the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) for accepting and announcing what he described as fictitious results from Nembe, Southern Ijaw, Ogbia and other parts of the state and for declaring the All Progressives Congress (APC) winner of the November 16 election.

Also, the Amananaowei of Sagbama, High Chief Moses Magbisa, who spoke in the Ijaw dialect, said the people of the area were disappointed over what he described as daylight robbery of the Peoples Democratic Party mandate by INEC.

The traditional ruler assured that people of the area were solidly behind the governor and that his developmental exploits would never be forgotten.

In his remarks, Governor Dickson expressed appreciation to the leaders for the solidarity visit.

He urged the people of the area to continue to be peaceful and law abiding.

He said the governorship election was characterised by massive rigging, intimidation and harassment by the Nigerian Army and Police with the connivance of INEC to ensure victory for the APC.

Dickson assured them that the mandate would be recovered through litigation.
