Safe Hands Foundation, Rumuolumeni Monarch Partner on Community Wellbeing, Healthcare

Against the backdrop of recent outbreak of cholera, a non-governmental organisation, Safe Hands Hygiene Foundation (SHHF), has intensified its awareness campaign on hygiene and healthy living to communities in Rivers State.

One of such community engagement visits, to Rumuolumeni Kingdom in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area over the weekend, received significant buy-in from the monarch, His Royal Highness King Engr. Chukwuemeka Okocha Orlumeni XIII, and his people, leading to his induction as a member of the Safe Hands Hygiene Foundation board of directors.

Founder and CEO of Safe Hands Hygiene Foundation, Dr. Okolie John Okechukwu expressed gratitude to King Chukwuemeka Okocha “for accepting the role of director on the board of Safe Hands Hygiene Foundation,” adding that “his leadership and influence will undoubtedly strengthen our mission to promote hand hygiene and public health.

“We are looking forward to a future that would be filled with impact for our coming generations,” Dr. Okechukwu said.

His Royal Highness King Engr. Chukwuemeka Okocha Orlumeni XIII of Rumuolumeni Kingdom was excited over being the first traditional ruler to be inducted as a board member of the organisation.

He said, “I will support this geature as the Lord gives me the grace to do so. My family is an example of washing hands regularly. My wife’s contribution to this beefed my taking action and I have also encouraged my chiefs and subjects to do the same. Our society needs healthy living. Together we can achieve the goals set.”

Speaking with newsmen after the ceremony Hon. (Dr.), Amb. Angela Anthony Oju-Kienmie, FEPHM, Founder/President, Angela And The Rising Stars Initiative (ARISE)/ Member SHHF, described the event as “momentous, marked by warmth, wisdom, and a shared commitment to community well-being, their healthcare, and the safety of their environment.

“Safe Hands Hygiene Foundation is dedicated to driving innovation through advocacy, emphasizing handwashing as a crucial tool in reducing the spread of infections.

“Through strategic initiatives, awareness campaigns, and community engagements, we aim to instill a culture of hygiene that safeguards lives and fosters a healthier society.

“With the support of esteemed leaders like His Royal Highness, we are confident in our journey toward a cleaner, safer future for all”.

The visit featured the presentation of Safe Hands Hygiene Foundation Faze cap and T-shirt by the Founder/CEO, Dr. Okolie, as well as copies of Literature text books to pupils, students and young adults in the community by Hon. (Dr.), Amb. Angela Anthony Oju-Kienmie, FEPHM.
