The Independent Newspaper Publishers Association of Rivers State (RIVPA) has inducted Port Harcourt Mundial Newspaper into its fold.
Also inducted at the RIVPA Award and Induction Ceremony, held on Wednesday, May 7, 2025 in Port Harcourt, Rivers State capital, were Kristina Reports, Newswriter and Society Conscience Newspapers.
The association also honoured some individuals for their contributions to the development of the media industry in Rivers State.
RIVPA is the umbrella body of newspaper publishers in Rivers State.
Chairperson of the organization, Gloria Boma Harry, emphasized the importance of the media in the society, while urging the government and organizations to offer support by patronizing publishers.
She said, “As an association made up of owners of various media products that form, shape and reflect public participation and innovation, we are saddled with the response to social issues.”
The four new members inducted were represented by their publishers, which include: Affiong Chinyere Nwaucha (Port Harcourt Mundial), Society Conscience (Innocent Jacob), Godswill Jumbo (Kristina Reports) and Elsie Amabibi (Newswriter).
Executive Director of Port Harcourt Mundial, Affiong Chinyere Nwaucha, praised the efforts of the Gloria Boma Harry-led executive to reposition the publishers’ body.
She said the role of the media in an evolving democracy, such as Nigeria’s, cannot be overemphasized, while applauding the contributions of RIVPA members to socio-economic development of the state.
