A mixed crowd of people in Rivers State Saturday defied an early rain to march in support of Labour Party’s presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi.
The march which paraded groups drawn from all parts of the state included women, youths, traders, artisans and party faithful as well as the public.
Some of the participants interviewed by our correspondent said they defied the rain to show support because, they think the Labour Party candidate would better manage the Nigerian economy than others.
The march, which some of the participants said was to show that “Peter Obi has the required structure” to win the presidential election next year, witnessed a crowd which organizers put at well above the initially intended two million people.
Our correspondent also reports that in spite the rain and heavy presence of security personnel, the marchers gathered from various parts of the Port Harcourt metropolis, such as the popular Oil Mill Market, and terminated the march at Isaac Boro Park in the city centre.
