The Rivers State Ministry of Health has confirmed that 13-month-old Baby Miracle has been reunited with his father, Mr. Ugochukwu Onyenehigo, following an amicable settlement between the family and the hospital.
The reunion comes after the hospital, on humanitarian grounds, filed a case of juvenile abandonment at the family court. The court facilitated a peaceful resolution between both parties, leading to the withdrawal of the case after an agreement was reached.
During a brief send-forth event organized by the hospital, Mr. Onyenehigo, a generator-repair technician, expressed gratitude to the hospital management, the Ministry of Health, and members of the public for their concern. He, however, admitted to facing serious economic challenges in repaying the medical bills that accumulated during his child’s treatment.
While a repayment plan had earlier been agreed upon, the Ministry of Health has now stepped in to offset the outstanding balance to ease the family’s financial burden and ensure the baby’s welfare.
The Ministry further directed the hospital to submit a detailed report of all outstanding balances by Monday, November 3, 2025, to ensure proper documentation, accountability, and continued government support for vulnerable families.
