Rivers HLGA Lauds Obio-Akpor Workers, Tasks Them On Dedication To o Duty

As workers all over the world marked this year’s International Workers Day on May 1, 2025, the Head of Local Government Administration (HLGA) of Rivers State, Mr Michael Elenwo, has commended workers in Obio-Akpor Local Government Council for their support to the council administration led by Dr. Ndu Walter.

He assured that the administration will continue to provide the necessary incentives, and the enabling environment for seamless activities in the council.

The HLGA made this known while speaking with the media after hosting the workers to a brief party in commemoration of the workers day activities at the council secretariat.

Elenwo said that the workers day which began in 1886, when about three hundred and forty thousand (340,000) workers came together and agreed on days of work and a day for reflection, relaxation, and meditation.

He noted that the workers’ day in Obio-Akpor was used to renew their dedication to duty, as well as reciprocate the kind gesture of the council administration by being punctual to duty and ensuring the protection of the council properties and infrastructures are not vandalized.

Elenwo added that the council management on its part will continue to pay workers’ salaries and allowances.
