New chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Rivers State, Hon. Ojukaye Flag Amachree has extended an olive branch to fellow party members who might have been aggrieved over the processes leading to his emergence as state chairman of the party.
Speaking to newsmen at the Port Harcourt International Airport, Omagwa after being sworn in at the party secretariat in Abuja, Flag Amachree called on any aggrieved member of the APC to toe the line of dialogue instead of fighting themselves.
“I want to use this opportunity to send out an invitation to some of our brothers who feel concerned in one way or the other; I want to say that the door of dialogue is still open. The party belongs to all of us, let’s not waste our energies fighting ourselves,” he said.
The chairman said it is better to jaw-jaw than to war-war and enjoined all members of the APC to form a united force for the common purpose of removing the incumbent governor, Chief Nyesom Wike come 2019.
Appreciating the mammoth crowd that came to welcome him at the airport, Flag Amachree noted that their presence showed that his emergence as Rivers APC chairman was the wish of majority of APC members in the state and vowed not to let them down.
