Former accountant-general of Rivers State, Siminialayi Fubara, has emerged as the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for the 2023 gubernatorial election.
Fubara polled 721 votes against his closest contenders, Isaac Kamalu who pulled 86 and George Kelly who scored 37 votes.
According to the results announced at the end of voting at the Rivers PDP 2022 gubernatorial primary election held at the Obi Wali Conference Center, Port Harcourt, by the electoral committee chairman, Prof. Walter Mboto, former state party chairman, Bro Felix Obuah polled 2 votes, while secretary to the state government, Dr. Tammy Danagogo 36 votes.
Out of the 898 delegates accredited, valid votes cast were 890, while 8 void.
