Revd Abiri for Burial at Oviri-Olomu

The families of Chief Abiri of Udugbevwen Quarters of Oviri-Olomu in Ughelli South Local Government Area, and Ogbigbi of Iyamibo Street, Akiowhe, Owhe in Isoko North Local Government Area, both of Delta State, have concluded plans to commit their late son and father, late Revd Lazarus Avwerosuoghene Sunday Abiri, to Mother Earth.

According to a release signed on behalf of the children and the extended family by his son, Mr. Mudiaga S. Abiri, and Mr. Police Ovwigharieta, late Revd Lazarus Abiri, who died at the age of 94 years, will be committed to Mother Earth on February 13.

“Wednesday February 12, 2020 is scheduled for service of songs at his residence in Ughelli, while on Thursday February 13, 2020, a funeral service would be conducted by Most Revd Cyril Odutemu, who is the bishop of Ughelli Diocese of the Anglican Communion and also the archbishop-elect of Bendel Province, supported by other Anglican priests, at Bishop Agori-Iwe Memorial Anglican Church in Ughelli.

“A reception is billed to hold at Oviri-Olomu Secondary School playing field immediately after the interment at his family compound, while Sunday, February 16, 2020 is scheduled for the Outing service at St. James Anglican Church, Oviri-Olomu,” the release said.

In a chat with our correspondent, Mr. Peter Abiri, Papa’s son said, “Our late father was a humble and a highly disciplined man of God. He was trained and served as Anglican priest in then old Warri Diocese before he retired after meritorious divine service.

“In the same way, my father trained us to be humble and gentle and most important, he gave us quality education and made us to be responsible people in the society today. This is the most important thing our late father had done for us that we can’t forget.

“Therefore, I’m using this medium to invite all my friends and well-wishers and family members to join us to give our late father a befitting burial. He’s a father worthy to be honoured,” he said.
