All is now set for the annual Democratic Leadership conference, organised by the Polling Units Ambassadors of Nigerian (PUAN), to be held ahead of the Anambra governorship election.
In a chat with newsmen at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, the deputy ambassador general of PUAN South-South, who is also the zonal coordinator of PUAN, Barr Mfon Peters, said the group will change the narrative of Nigerian politics and elections.
“PADDLE 2021 is an annual event which promises to enforce our message and articulate our position against bad governance which begins at the polling units and wards, even though it doesn’t end there.
“The event will feature credible stakeholders in the good governance project in Nigeria who are determined to change and drive home the connotation that with PUAN, Nigerian elections will not be business as usual.
“We are already set for the Anambra State elections in November and shall hit the ground running with the mobilisation of over 50 Ambassadors to ensure a free, fair, credible and transparent electoral process that will usher in good governance.
“After the election, our voices will be heard through our report in line with INEC rules and regulations and the 2010 Electoral Act as amended.
“PUAN is building a very massive structure in all the wards and polling units of Nigeria ahead of the 2023 general elections.
“Vice President, Prof Yemi Osibanjo is expected to deliver the keynote address on leadership, while the chairman, Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, Prof. Mamood Yakubu, will drill delegates with a paper presentation in the presence of the Canadian, American, Chinese representatives and the European Union, EU, all billed for the conference.
“PUAN has observed not less than 15 INEC conducted elections, including reruns, and remains the largest election observing organisation in Nigeria that has a grassroots base structured in all the polling units and wards with the largest number of followers across the country.
“There will be euphoria at the NAF Conference Centre Kado, Abuja on the 1st and 2nd of November 2021 following the PUAN Annual Leadership Democratic Event (PADDLE) 2021,” Amb Peters disclosed.
