… As Church Marks 25th Anniversary
General Overseer of The Apostolic Mount Olive Church, Prophet Dr David Udo Udo, has assured that the challenges confronting Rivers State and Nigeria at large will soon be a thing of the past.
Speaking with newsmen after celebrating the 25th anniversary of his church on Easter Sunday at their national headquarters, Elelenwo, Obio Akpor, Rivers State, Prophet Udo Udo said he and his team of ministers are praying for Rivers State and Nigeria as well as the leaders, expressing optimism that God will intervene.
“We’re praying for this country. We pray for Rivers State. We pray for our leaders, we pray for the economy of this country Nigeria. Our expectation: one day God will help us; He will help Rivers State, he will help Nigeria. God loves Nigeria so much, He gave us everything. We stand in the gap for Rivers State. We stand in the gap for Nigeria,” he said.
The clergyman, who thanked God for the continuous growth and expansion of his church, urged Nigerian leaders to seek the wisdom of Solomon and learn to replicate in the country the things they see abroad.
He said: “My advice to our leaders in this country Nigeria: Solomon asked God for wisdom. Many of them go out to other countries. They see what those presidents, those leaders are doing. We pray to Almighty God to give them wisdom.
“I advise them to use wisdom, what they go out and see: good hospitals, good education, good economy – the way they manage their countries for the rich and poor to still be alive to eat and succeed in this life. When you go out to another country, what is the thing you see as good and you bring back to this country?”
Reflecting on some of the challenges his ministry has faced in the past 25 years, Prophet Udo Udo said: “You know we’re in the world but we’re not of the world. The world did not love Jesus, so they cannot love us. If you’re a man of God who fears God and follows the principles of God, you’ll see the people bring accusers of the brethren, you’ll see them trying to see the way they can scatter church. Some of them try to see the way they can come close to you and bring you down. Some of them come as a child of God but they’re not children of God. We see many things in ministry. All those things are stepping stones for the man of God to grow. For these 25 years, we have seen a lot. When we see all those things, we glorify the name of God.”
Some members of the church, including Pastor Joseph Thompson, Apostle Peter Etuk (national secretary), Sister Joy Jeremiah (national head usher), Apostle Ime Udo (General Superintendent), among others, all thanked God for his grace upon the church.
