Police Arrest Suspected Killer of Gov. Diri’s Inlaw, Traditional Ruler in Bayelsa

The Bayelsa State Police Command says it has arrested killers of 50-years-old, Hon. Odeinyefa Ogbolosingha, inlaw to the Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri and two others including the Paramount Ruler of Kalaba Community and Chairman of the Community Development Committee (CDC), HRH Kolibo Francis Amabelimo and Samuel Oburo in Kalaba community of Yenagoa Local Government area of the State.

Hon. Odeinyefa Ogbolosingha, HRH Kolibo Francis Amabelimo and Samuel Oburo were murdered in 2022.

The Police however confirmed that the deceased were murdered by three persons including one Gideon Atama,32 years, Bethlehem Nwanlia, 49 years and Clever Ovo, 33 years.

The State Commissioner of Police, Francis Idu, during a media parley in Yenagoa, stated that while one of the suspects identified as Perekebi Nwanlia is deceased, Gideon Atama and Bethlehem Nwalia are still at large.

He however confirmed that one of the suspects, Clever Ovo, who is in their custody, has confessed that they are members of the notorious Endurance Amagbein Gang. He noted that the leader of the gang, Endurance Amagbein has since been declared wanted by the Nigerian Army over the alleged killing of 16 soldiers at Okwuamam Community in Ughelli South in Delta State sometimes in the year 2024.

According to the CP, another member of the gang, Gideon Atama, was arrested with a mobile phone and putting on a army camouflage uniform and well kitted like a soldier, “upon a close check on the phone, “pictures of assorted riffles and voice notes of their previous operations were unraveled. They also went further to mention sponsors in the vandalization of installations and facilities in the region.”

Also, the Police attached to the Labrado Security House boat at Igbikiba in Southern Ijaw Local Government Area of the state has arrested a 20-years-old boat captain, Danile Williams, involved in alleged cases of pipeline vandalization.

According to the Police, Daniel Williams, is allegedly involved in the recent attack on Tebedaba-Brass trunkline at Lascogbene Community in Southern Ijaw Local Government Council. The 18 inches trunkline is operated by Oando and supplies crude oil to the Brass terminal.

The suspect who hails from lgbomotoro Community in Southern Ijaw but residing at Sagana Community in Brass Local Government area.

According to the Police, “Daniel Williams was contacted by the suspected and wanted Endurance Amaegbein to convey and deliver pipeline vandalization equipment such as two filing machines, five blades, five cutters, two machetes, five rechargeable head lamps, two Itel phones , two Radio sets, food stuffs and toiletries to enable him perpetrate his oil bunkering plans, despite the riots Act been read to the security agencies operating in Niger Delta by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu”.

He said the suspect will be charged to court as soon as investigations are concluded.
