The Port Harcourt Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines & Agriculture (PHCCIMA) and the StartupSouth Community (#StartupSouth) have agreed on a collaboration to deepen the Innovation Ecosystem in Rivers State.

This was the outcome of a 2-day visit the #StartupSouth community paid to the president of PHCCIMA, Dr. Chinyere Nwoga, in her office in Port Harcourt recently.

The StartupSouth Community began the two-day engagement at the Port Harcourt Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines & Agriculture, with a visit to the PHCCIMA President, Dr. Chinyere Nwoga, and continued on Wednesday with a meeting with PHCCIMA’s Trade Group Leaders.

The agenda, among other things, was to unlock opportunities for collaboration and extend an invitation to PHCCIMA for #StartupSouth X, the highly anticipated 10th edition of their flagship event, slated for September and October.

Reflecting on StartupSouth’s journey, founder and leader of the team, Uche Aniche, said “Since our ambitious launch in 2015, StartupSouth has grown into Nigeria’s premier community for founders, policymakers, and investors.

“We’re not just scaling in size and reach but creating seismic shifts in the startup ecosystem through our events and programming.

“With nine years of impact, StartupSouth has cemented its reputation as a catalyst for technology, business innovation, and networking, and we have been frontal in inspiring and empowering youths and startups,” he said.

Aniche pointed out that his team, through the visit, sought “to explore transformative partnerships with PHCCIMA. Our vision is to create a bridge for investment, dialogue, and collaboration, connecting local and international business communities.”

This outreach signals StartupSouth’s commitment to fostering opportunities that ripple beyond Port Harcourt, he said.

Our correspondent gathered that PHCCIMA President, Dr. Chinyere Nwoga, used the opportunity to discuss her agenda which includes strengthening Rivers State position as an Investment destination.

She reiterated her intentions to setup a one-stop shop for all business related federal and State agencies within the Chambers. This in her opinion will make access to Public services faster for business people and help deepen the State’s economy.

Dr. Nwoga pledged PHCCIMA’s support, emphasizing the chamber’s role in driving networking, advocacy, and ease of doing business.

She highlighted the benefits of being a member of PHCCIMA, which includes access to trade groups and regulatory bodies, funding opportunities and referral networks.

The engagement marks a pivotal moment for Port Harcourt’s business landscape.

A meeting of StartupSouth’s innovative spirit and PHCCIMA’s robust network is expected to create unprecedented opportunities for founders, investors, and businesses alike.

As #StartupSouth X looms on the horizon, all eyes are on the two bodies to deliver a future where innovation knows no bounds.
