The paramount ruler of Oyigbo urban in oOyigbo Local Government Area in Rivers State Eze Kingsley Akobundu Nwogu and some residents of the area have lamented the state of internal roads in the area.
They said the roads are in a very deplorable state because of the flooding in the area.
The paramount ruler said that going forward, the government of Rivers State should be proactive and tackle the flooding which is a yearly occurrence in the area.
He urged them to act like a responsible government and find a lasting solution to the problem.
Asked if he has an idea on how to curb this yearly menace,
Eze Kingsley Akobundu said that the government should construct more drainages and desilt the existing ones, and channelled all the water into Imo River.
The paramount ruler called on the Rivers State government to come to the rescue of the people over the ravaging flood in Oyigbo urban, lamenting that his palace has become an internally displaced persons camp (IDP) because some of the people whom the flood drove away from their houses does not have anywhere to run to and he can not stand and watch his subjects suffer.
He added that for those taking shelter in the community hall, that he equally send relief materials to them everytime the flood comes.
