Pa Diri: IYC President Extols Bayelsa Gov’s Late Father

The president of the Ijaw Youths Council Worldwide, Comrade Peter Timothy Igbifa has described the late father of the governor of Bayelsa State, Pa Abraham Joseph Michael Diri, as one whose life was well lived, which attracted people from all walks of life to his burial ceremonies.
Speaking to journalists at the funeral service held in his honour at St. Peters Anglican Church Sampou in Kolokula/Opokula Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, Igbifa said his peaceful disposition while alive, endeared him to several people within and outside the state, adding that with the foundation laid by the late octogenarian, many more Diris will equally be celebrated in future especially Governor Douye Diri who he said is following the foot steps of his late father through his peaceful disposition and ability to accommodate people irrespective of their class, tribe or political affiliations.
The IYC boss urged the family of the departed to see the death of their patriarch as a call to higher glory having lived a life worthy of emulation, and enjoined people to live a good life while on earth.
Igbifa however used the opportunity to advise the youths in the Niger Delta to redirect their lives meaningfully as according to him the era when youths are compensated and appreciated for been a bad boy was over, rather youths would be appreciated for impacting meaningfully on the development of the society.

It will be recalled that the father of the governor of Bayelsa State, late pa Abraham Joseph Micheal Diri, who at the age of 88 years was laid to rest at his hometown in Sampou in Kolokuma/Opokuma Local Government Area of Bayelsa State where dignitaries from all walks of life and political divide, including Vice President Prof, Yemi Osinbajo, former presidents Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, Dr Goodluck Jonathan were present. Presidential candidates of the People’s Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar and that of the Labour Party Peter Obi, as well as several state governors also came to pay their last respect.
