By Amos Odhe, Yenagoa

The recent Supreme Court affirmation of the governor of Osun State, senator Ademola Adeleke has continued to excite indigenes of the state residing in Bayelsa State, with the group planning to hold a thanksgiving for what they consider a miracle.

Speaking to journalists, flanked by his followers in Yenagoa, Comrade Festus Olaoye, financial secretary of the National Union of Road Transport Workers, Bayelsa State chapter, said words cannot express their deep-rooted joy and happiness over the Supreme Court affirmation of Governor Adeleke.

Comrade Festus Olaoye who hails from Modakeke, urged Governor Adeleke to be magnanimous in victory, accept it as ‘no victor and no vanquished’ by embracing his opponents and perceived enemies despite their political and religious differences, but carry everybody along and seek their support in order to deliver to the people of Osun State the much expected dividends of democracy.

“He needs to close ranks with all relevant stakeholders and unify the entire state with all shades of opinions,” Olaoye said.

He disclosed that Osun state is in dire needs of development, of infrastructures and manpower, adding that Adeleke’s coming to power is very auspicious and timely.

“The people of Osun are expectants of developmental strides which they want you to campaign with at the end of the initial four years.

“We all know that Governor Ademola Adeleke is from a wealthy family who will not divert state funds, but he should judiciously deploy the state funds for development and betterment of the state with legacy projects and enduring policies and programs,” Olaoye said.

He further noted that the state deserves a face lift in terms of infrastructural development, which the people are yearning for, adding that the people are clamouring for development comparable to Small London or Dubai, by providing enabling environment to attract investors and industries.

On relationship with workers, he urged the governor not to toy with worker salaries, but ensure that their salaries are paid regularly and also make it a priority to pay the retirees their pension and gratuities promptly.

He also called on Adeleke to always seek the face of God before taking any decision as he is saddled with the leadership of the state, adding that they will continue to pray for him fervently to succeed in his responsibilities as governor of the state.
