Onuma Johnson Hails Diri’s Contribution to Osun Governor-Elect’s Victory

By Amos Odhe, Yenagoa

The special adviser to Gov. Douye Diri on Non Indigenes Affairs, Onuma Johnson, has described the contributions of the Bayelsa State helmsman to Osun State governor-elect’s victory as a feat that is worthy of commendation, emphasizing that the contribution is an eloquent testimony of the sterling political qualities of the governor and a leeway to the success of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the 2023 general elections.
He made this known while speaking at the reception organized for Gov Diri on his return from Osun State, adding that as the chairman of the campaign organisation of the governor-elect, the Bayelsa governor gave his best as an astute politician who used his wealth of experience over the years to ensure that PDP emerged victorious at the end of the keenly contested election.
Onuma Johnson thanked Gov Diri for his all inclusive policy and magnanimity, especially as regards the appointment of non indigenes to sensitive positions in his administration, adding that this policy is a pointer to the fact that he is a detrabilized Nigerian.
He specifically mentioned the appointment of Bar. Kamal Adekilekun who is currently the technical adviser to the governor on Legal Matters, and Kola Oredipe, the director general of New Media, Government House, adding that both of them were in the entourage of the governor to Osun during the just concluded gubernatorial election in the state.
The special adviser who spoke to newsmen before the event urged non indigenes in the state to ensure they get their Permanent Voters Cards (PVC) so as to enable them perform their civic responsibilities during the 2023 general elections.
He hinted that standard arrangements have been concluded to sensitize non indigenes on the need to get their PVCs as that is the only way they can elect good leaders in next year’s elections, adding that the sensitization exercise cuts across the eight local government areas of the state.
While reiterating the commitment of non indigenes to co-operate with the state government on the security of lives and property, he noted that efforts are ongoing to integrate non indigenes into the Community Safety Corps recently established by the state government, stressing that the engagement will spread among carefully selected non indigenes in the state.
He called on them to maintain peaceful coexistence among themselves, pointing out that socio-economic development can only take place in an atmosphere devoid of rancour and acrimony.
