I know one animal called Usu in my native Etche language. The English call it bat. Please, I didn’t insinuate Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu (BAT), before una come for my head.
One funny adage says the bat has no concrete adaptation. The bat is not a bird that flies in the air, neither is it an animal that enjoys the ground.
The bat is a classless and homeless animal. It revolves around the air and the ground, ultimately belonging to nowhere and everywhere, like Buhari, who belongs to everybody and nobody.
I can state without fear of contradiction that Oluwa Minister Wike, aka Nyerishi of Rumuepirikon, is the human version of the bat. He is homeless and structureless at the moment.
In his wild goose chase for power, Oluwa Minister Wike seized and captured the structures of APC and PDP in Rivers State.
He told his sheepish followers that he is the ultimate, indisputable father of all political parties in Rivers State. He went further to state that he is the bonafide owner of all Rivers political structures.
No wonder, while in office as governor, Oluwa Wike built a second and better Government House along Ada George Road in Port Harcourt, with Rivers people’s money. Sadly, Oluwa Wike appropriated the second Government House to himself and his family.
Every month, Oluwa Wike organizes a luncheon in his captured and seized Government House to hurl insults at Rivers leaders opposed to his tyranny and dispense lies to the public at the shock of his bewitched audience.
Back to the story of Oluwa Wike as the Usu (bat) of Rivers State.
When Oluwa Wike assumed office as the Minister of FCT, the first thing he did was to capture the Rivers State structure of APC. He bought Alhaji Ganduje (fondly called Gandollar) to depose Chief Emeka Beke and installed Sir Tony Okocha as the APC helmsman.
Subsequently, he pushed for an APC kangaroo congress to ratify Tony Okocha’s position, against the orders of the court, which had halted the ill-conceived congress because Chief Emeka Beke’s tenure had not elapsed.
Chief Emeka Beke approached the courts and secured a landmark judgment nullifying the illegal congress. Sir Tony Okocha has been deposed by the court judgment. Chief Emeka Beke is the valid chairman of Rivers State APC.
The APC structure of Oluwa Wike has been razed to the ground. One of his wings has been completely destroyed. He is now flying with one wing, struggling to stay afloat.
The remaining wing — the PDP structure led by Hon. Aaron Chukwuemeka — began its own series of illegal activities. The court asked PDP to halt its planned congress. Oluwa Wike, in his characteristic disdain for the rule of law, asked them to ignore the court order, and they went ahead with the illegal congress.
Oluwa Wike is a life bencher who believes he owns the judges and judiciary. However, the court finally nullified the illegal PDP congress. Oluwa Wike’s second wing has been completely damaged. He can no longer fly to safety. A crash landing is inevitable.
Oluwa Wike is neither in PDP nor in APC as of today. He is operating as Usu (bat). He is not a bird flying confidently in the air, nor is he a full animal walking boldly on the ground. He is neither here nor there.
As I bring these thoughts to a close, it is important to remember that what goes around comes around.
In 2019, Oluwa Wike used the courts to disenfranchise and destroy the democratic rights of APC members under the leadership of Rt. Hon. Chibuike Amaechi. For the first time in Nigeria’s history, a ruling political party such as APC did not feature a single candidate in Rivers State.
Let it be known that Oluwa Wike raised an intelligent protégé in the person of Governor Siminalayi Fubara, who will eventually use him as a guinea pig.
The consequences of Wike’s wickedness and illegalities will undoubtedly come full circle. His disregard for justice and fairness will haunt him, and the structures he so arrogantly claimed ownership of will remain nothing but rubble.
I rest my case.
