Omerelu Lawyers have been urged on the need to strictly adhere to the ethics and principles of the legal practice, if they plan to go far in the profession.
The Chairman, Omerelu Lawyers Association (OLA), Mr Geoffrey Okwudiri Joseph- Amarame gave the charge during its quarterly meeting at the instance of Venerable Geoffrey Ordu-Emere in Isokpo, Ikwerre Local Government Area at the weekend.
Joseph -Amarame said since there was no short-cut to success , that it would be a worthless journey for anyone to see criminal or dubious practice as an option.
He told the OLA members rather, to strive for hard work and aim high which according to him, was a sure bet for success.
Those that may want to consider unethical practice he said, risk their future as the leaders of the profession are always out against such individuals.
He has also appealed with his colleagues not to rest on their oars but should continue to try their hands in some connecting areas with the profession due to the dynamic nature of the job.
Meanwhile, he has lauded their host, Ordu-Emere for his effort and called on those yet to host to consider such in the nearest future.
Earlier, at its last quarter meeting of 2024, the association has elected an 11 man executive members to man its activities for the next three years, they are; Chukwudi E. Nwandikom vice Chairman, Nnamdi Opara Secretary, Sunny Nwenwe, Assistant Secretary and Raphael Okpara Financial Secretary.
Others include, Chris Didia, Treasurer, King Onunwor , Publicity Secretary,Elder Celestine Wosa Nwenwe, Legal Adviser, Dr. Bright Ordu, Internal Auditor, Blessing Chikaike Igwe Welfare Secretary, while Solomon Igwe carried the day as Provost. Order-Emere was the electoral umpire.
