Ogu Kingdom agog for Minabere, New Chiefs


The ancient Ogu kingdom was agog last week as dignitaries from all walks of life witnessed a colourful chieftaincy ceremony adorned with all the trappings of pageantry.

The event proper kick off at the Town Square with the installation of three chiefs, among whom is Sir Isaac Minabere of the Loko Royal House.

It featured traditional music and masquerade display, as colourfully dressed ladies added beauty to the epoch ceremony.

The newly installed chiefs and their wives danced to the rhythm of the native music, while other chiefs joined them.

GSS OGU’s 1978 set were on hand to celebrate with their own, Chief Minabere who equally graduated in 1978.

The Old Boys (1978 Set), comprising of Princewill Amadi, Gabriel Adukotubopiri, Innocent Amoni, Fubara Kalio, Robert Kalio, Chief Ada-Rufus Mbere, Chief Nyiedha Nasikpo, Jonah Wakama and Alpheus Tende described Chief Minabere as a humble father figure with good heart, and also prayed for God’s guidance and wisdom to enable him succeed in the huge traditional task before him.

Speaking earlier to our reporter, the charismatic chief said he will discharge his functions to the best of his ability, noting that members of his House has absolute confidence in him.

He further maintained that he never lobbied to become a chief, but rather the entire Loko House found him worthy of heading the House.

Blessing Aberepikima, a member of Loko House poured encomiums on the Chief Minabere, saying he is a committed gentleman with unblemished records and applauded his installation.

Prominent chiefs and dignitaries who spoke described Chief Minabere as a man that will transform Loko House and put it in a right path, pointing out that he is knowledgeable about the tradition of the people.

At a lavish reception held at his compound, guests were treated to musical display, while food and drinks were served to the excited guests.
