Ogbia Language Gets Boost as Educationist Launches Books, Teaching Aids

All is now set for the launch and public presentation of four books and teaching aids in learning and teaching Ogbia Language, authored by renowned educationist, Mrs. Isu F.B. Asela.

According to a statement signed by Hon. (Comr.) Enoch Fred Akinobebh, executive secretary, Universal Basic Education Board (UBEB), Ogbia Local Government Area and Comr. Igosein Idumom, chairman, Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), Ogbia Local Government Area, the event billed to hold on Saturday June 18, 2022, at Community Secondary School, Onuebum, in Ogbia Local Government Area will also witness the flag-off of a weeklong workshop for teaching instructors of Ogbia Language.

The organizers said Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan is to be the special guest of honour, while chairman of Ogbia Local Government Area, Hon. Chief (Dr.) Ebinyo Marvin Turner and commissioner of Education, Dr. Gentle Emelah, are guests of honour.

Chief (Hon) Robert Enogha Ayalla is to be chairman of the occasion. “Father of the day is paramount ruler of Onuebum Community, HRH. Kine K. Osain (Ogo XVi), mother of the day is Chief. (Mrs.) Ayibanengiyega Egba while spiritual father and mother of the day are Venerable and Mrs. T.M. Obaze, venerable of Onuebum Archdeaconry.

“King Amalate Johnnie Turner is the chief launcher, while Prof. Arikawei Apuega, Dr. Kosioma Owede, Prof. Agi Azibaodomomsi and Prof. (Mrs.) Nateinyin Joy Akporehwe are the book reviewers,” the release said.

Our correspondent reports that the four books to be unveiled and launched have been included as official texts for the teaching of basic subjects of Mathematics and English Language by the Bayelsa State Ministry of Education for 2021 to 2024 academic sessions.

“Resource persons for the workshop are Mr. Basene Okpu F. Amangoli and Mr. Egberi Benjamin.

“The book presentation anchored by ‘The Let’s Restore Ogbia Language Forum’ promises to be eventful as the creme de la creme of Ogbia extraction, and educationists across the state are billed to grace the epoch occasion,” the organizers said.
