Ofoni People Salute Diri, PDP for Picking Ewhrudjakpo as Running Mate

The Ofoni Federated Communities in Sagbama Council Area have expressed gratitude to Governor Douye Diri, and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for choosing their son, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, as deputy governor of Bayelsa State.

The Ofoni people, who did not conceal their joy over the choice of Senator Ewhrudjakpo as running mate to Governor Diri in their re-election bid, described the development as a rare privilege for which they would ever remain grateful.

Speaking during a courtesy visit by Governor Diri and members of the PDP gubernatorial campaign team, the Amananaowei of Ofoni, His Royal Highness Auditor Onakpohor, and the Odion (Oldest man) of Ofoni, Chief Timothy Ejuvwevo, commended the Prosperity Government for executing impactful landmark projects in the community.

Chief Onakpohor and the 98-year-old Odion prayed God to grant success to the governor, his deputy and the PDP in their re-election bid and efforts to make Bayelsa a better place.

The Amananaowei of Ofoni assured that the community would demonstrate their appreciation by voting massively for the PDP in the November 11 election.

Addressing a large crowd at a rally to round off his campaigns in Sagbama local government area, Governor Douye Diri said they were in Ofoni to simply thank the people for their unflinching support to the PDP-led Prosperity Administration over the years.

Governor Diri, who inaugurated a number of projects in the community including a 10,000 seater pavillion, assured them of more infrastructural development when re-elected to serve another four years.

In his remarks, the deputy governor, Senator Ewhrudjakpo also expressed appreciation to Governor Diri for carrying him along as a brother, assuring that like previous times his native Ofoni people would replicate their block voting pattern for the PDP in the forthcoming election.

Also, the immediate past governor and incumbent senator representing Bayelsa West, Senator Henry Seriake Dickson, applauded the people of Ofoni for rallying behind their son to ensure the PDP sweeps the votes in the two political wards in the community.

Senator Dickson who spoke at the event through the executive secretary of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Chief Victor Okubonanabo, noted that the coast was clear for the governor and his deputy to win the November 11 election convincingly.

Others who made goodwill remarks at the rally include the member Representing Sagbama Ekeremor Federal Constituency, Chief Fred Agbedi; the speaker of the Bayelsa State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Abraham Ingobere; State PDP chairman, Chief Solomon Aguanana, secretary to the State Government, Alabo Gideon Ekeuwei; acting PDP Caucus chairman for Bayelsa West, Hon. Fyneman Wilson; and Dr. Stella Peremoboere Ugollo.

Others were the Commissioner for Local Government, Chief Thompson Amule; Commissioner for Special Duties (West), Dr. Churson Obosi; the technical adviser on Boundary Matters, Me Salem Vote, and a chieftain of the PDP from Ofoni, Dr. O.O. Osusu.

The infrastructural projects commissioned at Ofoni include the ultra-modern Ofoni Motor Park; a new Government Technical College and Mega Events Pavilion.
