The National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN) has appointed Mr Bright Ebere as its director of Programmes, Information and Communications for the South South region.
The appointment was made by Comrade Omoruyi Iyamu who is the national vice president of the youth body for the South South.
In the copy of a letter sighted by our correspondent, Comrade Iyamu stated that the new director’s appointment was due to his commitment and relentless activities towards the development of youths in the region. “This appointment is as a result of your dedication and commitment to youth activities and development in this region,” the letter stated.
In his maiden chat with newsmen in Port Harcourt, headquarters of the region on Sunday, Mr Ebere vowed to continue to contribute his quota to the development of youths in the region, even as he urged them to shun all criminal and negative tendencies that portray the region in bad light.
“I’m grateful to God and Engr Osaro Odiase, the managing director of Nagos Projects Ltd for this appointment and I’ll continue to contribute my best to the development of youths in the region. I want to use this opportunity to appeal to youths in the region to shun all criminal activities, particularly, militancy, oil thefts and bunkering as these not only impact negatively on our environment but portray us in bad light before the international community,” Ebere said.
He also appealed to his colleagues in the media for their cooperation to make the job easier for him.
Before his appointment, Mr Ebere was a practising journalist and the chief executive officer of Street Media, a Port Harcourt based online media.
