Bayelsa Queens’ head coach, Domo Okara says his side will continue to improve as the ongoing Nigeria Women Premier Football League (NWFL) Super Six in Yenagoa progresses.
The Prosperity Girls are currently first on the log with 7 points after three games, winning two and a draw, followed by Edo Queens on six points while Rivers Angel in third position with five points, two draws and a win in the same number of games.
Bayelsa Queens spanked Confluence Queens of Kogi 2-0 on match day three of the Super Six having started on a shaky note.
Zainab Olopade and Chinyere Igboamalu in 23 and 88-minute goals gave the Yenagoa-based side a deserved three point.
Coach Domo Okara in a post match interview, said the team is improving in every game in the tournament, adding that it is not time for celebration despite their slow start in the campaign.
He noted that the girls’ performance against Confluence Queens was an improved show compared to the previous match in the tournament, stressing that all the teams in the Super Six are potential title contenders.
Despite the victory, the Bayelsa Queens gaffer believes that they were fortunate to have secured all three points against their Kogi State counterpart, Confluence Queens, but said he was however disappointed at his players’ wastefulness in front of goal.
Earlier in the day, former champions, Rivers Angels and Nasarawa Amazons played out a barren draw while Moses Adaku’s Edo Queens humbled Heartland Queens 3-1.
Goals from Chioma Moses, Kafayat Mafisere, Emem Essien and a consolation goal from Emmanuella James on 69 minute gave Edo Queens a smooth victory.
