Norisia Pepple Commends Rivers Gov for Appointing Youths into Government

The special assistant to the Rivers State governor on Youth and Sports, Hon Norisia Pepple, has expressed gratitude to his boss, Sir Simnialayi Fubara, for appointing youths to serve in various positions of trust in his administration. 

Hon Pepple made this known while addressing newsmen at the Obi Wali International Conference Centre, Port Harcourt, during a programme organized by the state government to commemorate the International Youth Day.

He also congratulated the state commisioner of Youth, Hon. Dr Chisom Kenneth Gbali, for organizing “a value laded and epoch making” event to mark the International Youth Day in the state.

In recognition of behaviour expected of youths, the special assistant on Youths and Sports paid glowing tributes to a Rivers youth, from Emohua Local Government Area, whom he described as an ambassador of the state, Miss Mary Ngozi Kekwaru, for her exemplary character in returning about N80 million to a customer at Eko Hotels in Lagos State, and called on youths to emulate her and always take the path of honesty and integrity.

Speaking on sports, Pepple assured that the Governor Sim Fubara-led administration will revive grassroot sports in the state, including the secondary school games competitions and LGAs League tagged ‘The Governor’s Cup Competions.’

It will be recalled that every 12th August, the International Youth Day, is organized by the United Nations as a special day set aside to bring attention to issues affecting young people all over the globe.

The theme for the 2023 IYD is ‘Green Skills for Youth: Towards a Sustainable World’. According to a release by the United Nations, green skills for youths towards a sustainable world will highlight efforts at pioneering transformation towards a future that is both ecologically sustainable and climate-friendly.

Pepple said that the significance of the International Youth Day, celebrated annually on August 12 cannot be overemhasized, and transcends mere symbolism.

According to him, the annual event provides another rare opportunity to acknowledge and honor the inherent qualities of youth, identifying their budding potential to shape the destiny of our dear state, nations and the entire world.
