Nigeria Immigration, MEMPON Collaborate on ‘Service Delivery’

Umbrella body of maritime and energy media practitioners in Nigeria, the Maritime Energy Media Practitioners of Nigeria (MEMPON), has offered to partner and collaborate with the Nigerian Immigration Service (NIS), with a resolve to enhance efficient service delivery to citizens of the country.
The cooperation and partnership offer was made Wednesday August 18 2021, when the president of MEMPON, Amb. Dr Ralph John led his management team on a courtesy call to the Nigerian Immigration Service, Rivers State Command.

Receiving members of MEMPON to his office, Comptroller of Immigration, Rivers State Command, Dayo Oni, expressed gratitude for the visit. He said welcomed the visit from MEMPON leadership, because the Nigeria Immigration Service always cherish and maintain good level of synergy and collaboration with corporate bodies.
Comptroller Oni said since the service deals with members of the public, it feels interaction with corporate organizations like MEMPON will give it access to explain issues and matters relating to Nigerian immigration to members of the public.
He explained that the Immigration service has a lot of portfolios they are working on and rendering services through, noting that issuance of passport is only one aspect of immigration work.
“Passport is only one of the sections in Nigeria Immigration service. We do a lot of things concerning internal security of the nation,” Comptroller Oni explained.

He applauded the Comptroller General of Nigeria Immigration Service (CGI), Mohammed Babandede , for being proactive and for introducing concepts/systems that have changed the performance rating of the service.
“Our Comptroller General of Nigeria immigration Service has done a lot to combat crime and tackle delays in filling of passport forms. Today you can fill these forms from the comfort of your home or office, courtesy of our CGI”, Oni stated.
He also observed that the Servicom service is active at Nigerian Immigration Service, positively impacting on the way immigration operatives give prompt and efficient services to members of the public.
Earlier, Maritime Energy Media Practitioners of Nigeria (MEMPON) President, Ambassador Dr. Ralph John commended their host for the honor done them by granting the visit.
He said that MEMPON, has over 25 members and that they are involved in the business of informing members of the public on matters that concerned them and government etc.
He said there are information that is not positive within the public domain that does not appropriately represent the service well, noting that this interaction will afford the service the opportunity to put the records straight.

He therefore called for the synergy with the Nigeria Immigration Service, pointing out that their members are top media practitioners, editors and publishers, who maintain steady publishing of information and communication, to achieve stated developmental goals of the nation.
In a remark, secretary of MEMPON, Deacon Golden Enyi Onyema applauded the Comptroller of Nigeria Immigration Service, for their steadfastness, and requested for update on recent development in respect of Rivers State Government’s position for registration of all residents in the state.
Among the Management team of Nigerian Immigration Service present were Comptroller Dayo Oni, DCI OV Sam- Idigo, ACI LO Amadi, ACIS. Adeoye, SI. PN Nwosu and CC Nwosu (PRO).
Also members of MEMPON present include Ambassador Ralph John JP,
DD, Berth Ndubuwa, Vice President, Golden Enyi Onyema, Secretary, Mrs
Florence Pere Jose, Treasurer, and Macdonald Aguigbo. Others are
Obioha Onyema, Chris Newman, lfeanyi Nwoha, Sotonye Janaica and Ben
Owen.
