Niger Delta University Teaching Hospital shut down Services

By Amos Odhe, Yenagoa

The Bayelsa State owned Niger Delta Teaching Hospital, situated at Okolobiri in Yenagoa local government area of the state, has shut down its services due to the rampaging flood.

Sources revealed the flood has adversely affected the institution as the roads leading to Okolobiri from Igbogene and Tombia axis have become impassable while workers couldn’t access it. This has compelled the management of the hospital to distribute its patients among available hospitals such as the Federal Medical Center and Diete Koki Memorial hospital.

“As you are aware the road to Okolobiri from Igbogene axis has been cut off by devastating flood as vehicles cannot move due to heavy current and the same thing applies to those who might access it from Tombia road axis and save the life of patients they have to evacuate them to Yenagoa.”

A statement made available to newsmen states that “The Niger Delta University Teaching Hospital Okolobiri has shut down services. The hospital is closed down because of the flood.

“However, temporary services will be rendered at Diete Koki Memorial Hospital Opolo for the time being until the flood recedes”
