The 3rd phase ex-agitators in the Niger Delta have called for the confirmation of Col Milland Dixon Dikio (rtd) as the substantive administrator of the Presidential Amnesty Programme (PAP).
This, they said, is based on the reforms, principles and models, such as Train, Employ and Mentor (TEM), that had been initiated by Col Dikio since his appointment as the interim administrator by President Muhammadu Buhari, adding that it is only proper for him to be allowed to actualise his vision for PAP in the Niger Delta region.
The ex-agitators noted that “protests and other measures orchestrated to truncate his noble intentions should be jettisoned, as the stage the Niger Delta has reached is that of dialogue and negotiations which the ex-agitators have keyed into,” and urged all well meaning stakeholders to support Col Dikio and his management team to achieve his mandate.
National chairman of the 3rd phase ex-agitators, Comrade Tonye Bobo, Bayelsa State chairman, Oscar Jackson, and national secretary, Elaye Slaboh, in a press statement in Yenagoa urged “all aggrieved parties to sheath their swords and allow the prevailing peace in the Niger Delta Region to be sustained, as Niger Delta youths have been endeared to the leadership style of Col Milland Dixon Dikio rtd.”
According to Tonye Bobo, who is also the deputy spokesman of Strategic Communication Committee (SCC), Col Dikio’s administration at PAP, has brought massive reforms that have enhanced Niger Delta Stabilization Programme (NDSP), “hence the call on those bent on writing petitions to embrace the open-door policy of Col Dikio who welcomes constructive criticisms and has opened communications to progressive ideas for him to achieve set goals.
“We lend our voice to those of other critical stakeholders such as INC, PANDEF, IYC, students that have endorsed him, we say we are solidly behind Col Dikio, the clarion call on President Muhammadu Buhari without further delay is to confirm Col Milland Dixon Dikio as a substantive coordinator of the PAP to stabilise the programme in the Niger Delta Region”
“We also applaud the verification process of Col Milland Dixon Dikio. As ex-agitators, we sympathize with victims of this exercise that has jeopardised the success of the programme, which lead to the short-changing of original delegates and gave room to emergence of ghost names computation.”
“We have absolute confidence in him as a substantive administrator with bright ideas who has brought the struggle to the original owners.
“We wish to inform President Muhammadu Buhari that the current reforms in the PAP office have gone a long way in yielding fruitful results and also giving delegates right to their slots.”
He urged the presidency to disregard the antics of those fermenting trouble and causing disaffection as well as those conspiring with ex-agitators, fraudulent leaders with intention to thwart the dynamic efforts of Col Dikio rtd and called for independent investigation by anti-graft agencies”
“We also commend Col Dikio who has incorporated ex-agitators into a cooperative society and entrepreneurial scheme which would make us not rely only on the monthly stipends of #65, 000, but will make us become self reliance and be employers of labour.
“His initiatives have also engendered peace and stability in the oil producing areas. While insecurity, banditry, kidnapping are threatening investors in some parts of the country, investors are appreciating the hospitality and investment friendliness of the Niger Delta region.
“Even when parts of the country are in flame with insurgency, succession bid by aggrieved ethnic nationalities, Niger Delta still remains peaceful as investors’ investments are secured.
“As ex-agitators, we unequivocally say no to the era of violence, road blocking/placards carrying, arms struggle in the Niger Delta have become a thing of the past since assumption of office by Amnesty boss, Col Dikio, who has become a new prince of Niger Delta. Enemies of Niger Delta are fighting Dikio to keep the region in crisis, we laud Dikio for his new lease of life.”
