New Police Commissioner for Eastern Ports

A new commissioner of Police has been posted to the Eastern Ports command of the Nigeria Police Force.

He is Yunusa Edwin Ogwuche, who until his appointment was the commissioner of Police in charge of Forces Border Patrols at the Forces headquarters Abuja.

He took over from Alex Opara who has been deployed to the headquarters, Abuja as a deputy Inspector General of Police.

A statement released by his media officer and made available to newsmen in Port Harcourt on Saturday said that the new commissioner promises “to build on the existing relationships between the Police and maritime stakeholders in the Eastern Ports command,” and warned port rats to relocate outside the Eastern ports or be dealt with within the ambit of the law.

The statement described the new commissioner as a professional Police officer and gentlemen to the core. “CP Ogwuche is returning to a familiar turf, Rivers State, where he once served as a Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in some divisions within the Port Harcourt metropolis and beyond. Some of the divisions he served include Olu Obasanjo, Central Police Station (CPS) Isiokpo, Rumuji amongst others,” the statement added.

Known for his crime busting capabilities and professional manner, he had also led a contingent of the Nigeria Police Force to Haiti in Latin America on peace-keeping operation. CP Ogwuche was once a unit commander PMF, also a squadron commander at Police Mopol Force 8.
