The Niger Delta Basin Development Authority (NDBDA) has held a grand end of year party for its staff and also rolled out the drums to celebrate those that retired from its service.
Managing Director of the board, Chief Engr. Mark Daso Derefaka, in his remarks at the event, said it was home coming for the retirees to be brought back to the fold of a unique family, adding that quality ideas from them will assist in moving the activities of the board forward.
He lauded their presence, describing them as worthy ambassadors with a wealth of experience and wished them well in their future endeavours.
Former managing directors, executive directors and senior management staff of the NDBDA commended the managing director and his team for hosting them.
They were particularly impressed with the level of progress recorded by the Engr. Derefaka-led team and advised them to maintain the tempo.
On the sidelines of the event, some staff and retirees who spoke to our correspondent described Engr. Derefaka as God-sent, noting that he is a trailblazer, especially for recognizing the retirees and providing for workers’ welfare.
Executive director, Finance and Administration, Alabo Francis Ada Ebenezer Onye appreciated the retirees for their dynamism, having successfully served the board meritoriously. He assured that the board will make a huge impact in 2022 and beyond, adding that the words of advice from the former directors and others will spur them to move the board to an enviable height.
Acting chairman of the staff union, S.N Egbe, expressed confidence in the board and assured of their total commitment to working in synergy with the board for a fruitful year ahead.
It will be recalled that in line with the mission and vision of the board, the Engr Derefaka-led board has “efficiently performed beyond expectations with the Graduate Youth Unemployed Scheme, Kpong Songhai Farm, Sama Songhai farm that has in stock, concrete fish pond, earth pond and open snailery among others.”
Dignitaries from all walks of life attended the epoch event, described by retirees and guests as first of its kind in the history of NDBDA.
