NACCIMA Lauds Princess Medical Centre For Promoting Medical Tourism

President of the Nigerian Association of Chambers of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture, NACCIMA, Iyalode Alaba Lawson has described the new 5-star multi-specialty hospital, Princess Medical Centre, as world class hospital promoting medical tourism and redefining hospital business within Rivers State, the south –south region and beyond.

The NACCIMA boss made this assertion as she led a delegation of chamber members from across all the states of the federation on a facility visit of the Princess Medical Centre, as part of events to mark the NACCIMA 3rd quarterly council meeting in Port Harcourt.

She expressed huge confidence that with a collection of advanced medical equipment and a hospital concept that tends to promote the medical tourism industry, the Princess Medical Centre has put in place sustainable plans that will add value and contribute immensely to the nation’s health sector, even as she commended the management and individuals behind the successful hospital project.

In his remark while addressing the delegation, the chief operating officer of the hospital, Dr. Ademolu Owoyele, said with the launching of Princess Medical Centre, the organization with its 30 years’ experience is taking steps towards improving medical tourism, operating a world-class hospital that meets global rating with an advanced medical facility of modern generation. “We have set up an in-vitro fertilization (IVF) complex, and the most advanced medical equipment that enables quick and accurate diagnostics. We also have top-notch operating theatres equipped with systems that facilitates reduction in pain, shortens the healing process, eases postoperative scarring, reduces patient’s recovery time and return to an active life, lowers the risk of complications, lessens the length of hospital stay and improves health outcome.

He said the hospital is poised to contributing its quota towards reversing the over 1billion dollars lost as capital flight yearly by creating an effective and efficient health system that addresses health care for all.

While expressing gratitude to the NACCIMA President and her delegation for the visit, the medical director who also is a consultant cardiologist, Dr. Mrs. Onyiye Ugochukwu noted that over 60 percent of loses to medical tourism is spent on 4 major clinical areas, hence the Princess Medical Centre has taken the bold step to set up centres of medical excellence in two of these specialties – cardiac and renal has been provided since inception.
