First Lady of Bayelsa State, Mrs Gloria Diri, has called on well meaning Individuals and organizations in the state and in the Diaspora to regularly extend their benevolence to the down trodden in society.
Mrs Diri said the cycle of lack and want will be broken only when everyone considers the vulnerable groups.
The First Lady made the call while flagging off Project 2020 Palliatives Distribution by the Alinarichman Foundation at the Peace Park in Yenagoa.
She commended the foundation for joining hands with the Gloria Diri Foundation to alleviate the plight of people, especially women in the state and prayed for the sustenance of the initiative.
Mrs Diri stated that the Covid-19 pandemic has affected and changed the day to day activities, adding that to flatten the curve of the pandemic everyone must take responsibility by adhering to the protocols.
Founder of Alinarichman Foundation, Idubamo Alina Richman, who is an indigene of Igbedi Community in Kolokuma Opokuma Local Government Area of the state, in her address, explained that the desire to keep the legacies of her late father, Rev. Richman Warton Agbinwe, alive and give back to humanity birthed the foundation.
She applauded the First Lady, Mrs Gloria Diri, for providing the enabling environment for the smooth take off of the palliatives distribution exercise.
Chairman of Kolokuma Opukuma Local Government Area (KOLGA), Hon. Deinye Ubarugu, represented by the former chairman of KOLGA, Hon. Eselema Gbaranbiri, used the medium to call on other prominent sons and daughters of KOLGA to emulate the kind gesture of Alina Richman.
According to a press statement signed by Mrs Diri’s press secretary, Maria Olodi – Osumah, the event featured the presentation of the palliatives to beneficiaries by the First Lady, special rendition by popular music icon, High Chief Eke Muma Gift aka ‘MUMA G’ and cultural display.
