The Police in Bayelsa State have arrested a 43-year old man, Mr. Sunday Otasi for killing his two sons, by giving them sniper to drink, for allegedly being wizards.

Police source said the incident occurred along GloryLand Drive, Igbogene a suburb of Yenagoa, the Bayelsa State capital, on December 29, 2018.

The source further said that Otasi, father of three – Success Otasi (14), Miracle (12) and GodsTime (10), was living with the mother before the sad incidence.

The suspect who hails from Agbobiri community in Okodia clan and now lives in Okaki in Rivers State with his new wife had gone to Agbobiri on December 29, 2018 to collect the children, who were living with his mother, for a deliverance service at George Odoko Outreach Ministry in Yenagoa on suspicion that they were wizards.

It was further learnt that on their way from Agbobiri to Yenagoa, Mr. Sunday, in company of one Levi Ayah had stopped along the GloryLand Drive in Igbogene, tied the three children with rope and gave them sniper to drink.

However, Success the oldest of children was able to crawl to the roadside before a Good Samaritan found him and took him to a hospital, where he was later revived.

Success Otasi

Giving his own side of the story, Mr. Sunday Otasi, father of the children said “my name is Sunday Otasi. Am 43 years from Agbobiri in Okordia Besini. Actually, this morning, around 2am, I was arrested as I saw my junior brother with some policemen come to the place where I was living. So, when I came here I asked what was the problem. He now told me that I went home on Saturday, 29th December, 2018 to pick my children, 3 boys who were living with my mother because my father is late.

“So, when I went there to take them, I took them to come and attend a program at George Odoko’s Ministry because that is where I worship. When I went there on that Saturday they said I should come today being Wednesday which is the deliverance day. I now said if that is the case, my younger brother came with me from the village with me to the church.

“Since Wednesday is the deliverance day and the deliverance will not occur that Saturday, you will go back with the children. So I gave him 1000 Naira because 1000 Naira will ferry them to the village and I now departed.

“Reaching this morning, I now saw the police and I was arrested. Actually, when I came here I understand one thing in the Niger Delta. I am from the area I have not seen anywhere where a father give his children sniper to drink to poison them,” he concluded.

Narrating his ordeal, the only surviving son, Success Otasi said his father in company of his uncle, Levi Ayah took him and his younger brothers to a bush, tied them with a rope and gave them sniper to drink.

“As they left us in the bush, I manage to crawl with back to the roadside where I saw somebody and I later found myself in the hospital,” he said.
