LGA Polls: Political Parties Kick Off Primaries in Rivers

In a run up to the April 17, 2021 local council polls in Rivers State, political parties have commenced the conduct of party primaries to elect who will represent them at the both councillorship and chairmanship levels.

This was contained in a release made available to newsmen in Port Harcourt by the director in charge of Public Affairs and Civic Education at the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC), Mrs. Sarah Hope Menney-Amgbare.

Mrs. Menney-Amgbare, who noted that the primaries kicked-off on Monday, 25 January, 2021 and will last for six days, added that 18 political parties had already indicated interest to participate in the local government council elections.

The statement further urged political parties to be civil in the conduct of their party primaries and play according to the guidelines, as released by RSIEC in the conduct of the 2021 LGA elections.
