LG Congress, Demonstration of Internal Democracy in PDP – Obuah

The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State has commended “the successful conduct” of its local government congress held on Thursday, August 10, 2017, describing it as “another milestone in its quest to enthrone lasting democracy in the state and a demonstration of internal democracy in the party.”

This followed the conduct of the party’s local government congress across the 23 local government areas of the state, which produced one delegate for each LGA for the National Convention holding in Abuja on Saturday.

State chairman of the party, Bro. Felix Obuah, in a statement in Port Harcourt, signed by his special adviser on media and publicity, Jerry Needam, praised the delegates for their full and enthusiastic participation, describing it as a job well done, adding that the party remains committed to the entrenchment of democracy and good governance in the state.

Bro. Obuah expressed joy that the delegates have once more made the party proud, stressing that the successful conduct of the local government congress was coming on the heels of the landmark ward congress held earlier in the week.

The state PDP chairman, who described the peaceful conduct of the exercise as a bold and loud statement of the party’s resolve to build an enduring political party devoid of bitterness and rancour, called on other political parties in the state, particularly the All Progressives Congress (APC) to eschew egocentric and selfish politics and borrow a leaf from the PDP.

In the light of this, Bro. Obuah reassured the people of the state that the PDP would remain a model and channel from where good governance would be delivered to them and all Nigerians.

The state PDP boss charged the people of the state not to be deceived by the antics of the APC, which he described as ‘a dead association’, noting that APC could not hold a successful congress because of its faulty foundation.

“APC, founded on greed, selfishness, deceit and blackmail, could be likened to a house, whose foundation was built on a sandy and muddy ground.  There is nothing that could make such a house to stand”, Bro. Obuah stated, adding that Rivers people have seen the difference and cannot be swayed to think otherwise.
