It was a beehive of activities at the prestigious Bayelsa Ox-bow Lake Arena as the inaugural edition of the one day 5-aside football tournament tagged Lakeside Soccer, sponsored by the Izuo Justin Otuogha Initiative, came to a conclusion with Light Football Academy emerging winners.
Port Harcourt Mundial reports that Ekuleama Nembe Boys defeated Bayelsa Professionals 1-0 to win the grand prize of Two Hundred thousand naira (200,000) among the 14 teams that took part.
Speaking after the breath-taking final encounter, sponsor of the tournament, Izuo Justin Otuogha, commended the various teams that participated in the competition.
He described the tournament “as a positive initiative to engage the brimming Bayelsa youths, as part of efforts to consolidate on the achievements of the state governor, Douye Diri in the past couple of years with regards to youth development through sports.
According to Izuo Justin Otuogha, “the Lakeside Soccer is a testament to the fact that Bayelsa youths are talented and hungry for success.”
He however promised to embark on subsequent edition of the Lakeside Soccer that would be bigger and better as it is aimed to engage youths and compliment the efforts of the Bayelsa State government in the pursuit of youth development.
Similarly, Izuo Justin Otuogha lauded the immense role Urbs Global Services Ltd (organizers) and his FGC, Odi family played in making sure the tournament achieved its desired aim of discovering budding talents that abound in the state.
