Capacity building and security has been the bedrock of development and economic growth in Rivers State and the Niger Delta at large.
In Okochiri, Okrika Local Government Area of Rivers State, the Amanyanabo of the community, King Ateke Michael Tom has created an impact that is deeply rooted in strengthening capacity.
He values and love people, regardless of their background. Nothing exists for itself. The royal father was not created for himself, he is created for others and finds fulfillment in attending to the needs of others.
Ateke Tom’s life is therefore a pointer to the fact that we should live for others and not just for ourselves.
In demonstration of his love and care for the elderly, less privileged, indigent etc, he initiated an empowerment scheme for both skilled and unskilled in his community and beyond. That is just a tip of the iceberg regarding the monarch’s passion.
He advanced the growth of rural men and women including youths in remote communities to acquire vocational skills for life. Part of the aim of this scheme is to reduce poverty and boost human capacity development in the Niger Delta region. He also provided microcredit facilities to men and women folks who are in need.
Perhaps, one interesting trait about the former Niger Delta agitator is his simple nature. He carved a niche for himself.
One may ask “who is a millionaire or billionaire”. This writer thinks “a millionaire or billionaire is somebody who has touched a million or billion lives, not one who has a million or billion Naira or dollars”.
The Okochiri monarch’s generosity and good heart has been a source of inspiration and succour to millions of people in his community, Rivers State, Niger Delta and Nigeria at large.
On security, the royal father has stabilized the Niger Delta region. He initiated several peace moves aimed at sanitizing the region of militancy and cult-related problems. Kudos must be given to this amiable king who against all odds, brought relative peace in Rivers State by engaging stakeholders in several peace moves.
We wish to commend the many milestones of the king for the continued development and selfless service to humanity.
