Khana Council Boss Urges Electorates to ‘Vote Wisely’ during Guber, Assembly Polls

Chairman of Khana Local Government Area, Dr. Bariere Thomas, has urged electorates in the council area and Baen communities in particular to “vote wisely” during the forth-coming governorship/house of assembly election.

He reiterated this position when he took his sensitization tour to the people of Bua Baen community in ward 18 of Khana Local Government Area.

Dr. Thomas noted that one of the candidates clamoring for ‘their turn’ “were not there to alleviate the insecurity in the Khana Local Government Area even when he had what it takes to stop the blood bath in Khana and Ogoniland at large.”

He said that “instead they were busy buying arms and guns for cultists to kill one another thereby creating gang wars where men, women, children were butchered, cutting heads, chasing villagers away, destroying houses, raping, stealing and kidnapping which as a result some people are still on exile till today.”

Thomas made reference to a governorship candidate, who he said “has not played any role or made contribution to the peace that is now in place in the area, instead creating an amour of war by it followers.”

The Khana council boss further said that during a church service (not disclosed), “the governorship candidate promised that if he wins the governorship position he will align all the cult groups (Dey-bam, Dey-well, Ice-landers etc) together instead of discarding them.”

Thomas note that Khana people needs someone “who can dissociate from these groups and not to accept them, because cultism is a crime against the society and therefore should not be tolerated in our midst.”

The council boss expressed belief that “the will of God will prevail, and that any incoming leader who will associated with such crimes will not rule.”

He however urged the electorates to come out en mass and vote peacefully for candidates of their choice, who will not take them to “the ugly past situation of insecurity.”
