IYC President Tasks New Eastern Zone’s Exco

… Charges them to be Proactive

President of Ijaw Youth Council Worldwide (IYC), Deacon Peter Igbifa, has assured Ijaw youths of his resolve to re position the body towards ensuring a robust leadership platform for it to thrive.

The IYC president was speaking during the IYC Eastern zonal election held in Borikiri, Port Harcourt, which saw Comrade Ibiwari Ibim, from Nkoro clan, emerge as new chairman of IYC, Eastern zone.

Igbifa commended the turn out and charged them to exhibit good morals in ensuring adequate leadership potentials for a greater tomorrow.

He maintained that the youths need unity towards achieving a common ideology that will take them to the next level.

He advised the new executives to tap into the vision of the founding fathers of the IYC so as to achieve success in the struggle.

The atmosphere at the arena was full of enthusiasm with an unprecedented crowd. The elders’ council of the IYC was fully present, while supporters of the various candidates came in their numbers to add colour and equally spice up the epoch event.

On the sidelines of the event, many youths described the election as a mini-carnival and a signal of the growth of the Ijaw nation, pointing out that the quality leadership of the president of IYC Worldwide is a beacon of hope for the Ijaw Youths.

They poured encomiums on the IYC president and lauded “his approach and wise decisions towards tackling Ijaw issues,” praying also that “the good Lord sustains him in achieving and sustaining the Ijaw struggle with his new direction.”

The IYC boss later led the newly elected executive to pay homage to the Amanyanabo of Okochiri Town, HRH King Michael Ateke Tom, “for his numerous supports to the council.”

The Okochiri monarch, who was highly elated, poured royal blessings on the IYC executives and promised to give them a secretariat, among other incentives.

Meanwhile, the election considered by most of those that witnessed the event as free, fair and credible, saw Comrade Ibiwari Ibim, emerge as chairman, alongside other executive members.
