Following the seeming refusal of the Bayelsa State government to reinstate the disengaged staff of Isaac Boro College of Education, Sagbama, the group, who claim to have been wrongfully dismissed, have once again staged a peaceful protest to press home their demands.
Speaking on behalf of the disengaged staff, chairman of the group, Kokobaikeme Lawrence, said they were protesting to express their grievances over their dismissal from the service of the institution since May, 2018 by the administration of former governor, Senator Seriake Dickson.
A statement signed by chairman of the disengaged staff and made available to newsmen in Yenagoa further noted that they had approached the Industrial Court to seek redress and a court order by April 1, 2022 compelling the state government to reinstate them and pay them all their entitlements to date, expressing dismay over the “blunt refusal of the government to obey court order.”
The disengaged staff, however, called on Governor Douye Diri “to use his good office, as a ‘Miracle governor,’” to direct the management of the institution to quickly reinstate them immediately and pay them all their outstanding entertainments without further delay, adding that they have been subjected to monumental hardship, critical health challenges , like stroke, hypertension, mental disorder, while about 18 of them had died out of the 154 persons that were affected.
