The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Rodney Ambaiowei of the People’s Democratic Party as winner for Southern Ijaw federal constituency supplementary election in Bayelsa State.
According to the result declared by the returning officer, Professor Christopher Onyema, the PDP candidate, Ambaiowei polled a total of thirteen thousand, nine hundred and ninety-two votes to defeat the incumbent member of the House of Representatives, Preye Oseke of the All Progressives Congress who scored twelve thousand, nine hundred and ninety-two votes.
Also, INEC has declared the All Progressives Congress candidate, Obein Godknows as winner of the Ogbia Constituency Two supplementary election into the Bayelsa State House of Assembly.
The result declared by the returning officer, Professor Johnson Ohakwe indicates that the APC’s Godknows registered five thousand, two hundred and ninety-one votes to defeat incumbent legislator, Munalayefa Gibson of the People’s Democratic Party who had four thousand, three hundred and forty-two votes.
With the outcome, the People’s Democratic Party will have seventeen seats in the seventh Bayelsa State House of Assembly while the All Progressives Congress will occupy five, leaving the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) with two seats.
