Management of Indorama Eleme Fertilizer Petrochemicals Ltd has restated its commitment to environmental laws guiding climate and environmental change in Nigeria.
It also said it is committed to its policy on occupational health, safety and general well-being.
The company came out with this in reaction to a press statement issues by a civil society organisation, PILEX Centre for Civic Education wherein the organisation accused Indorama of unhealthy environmental practices.
Indorama’s head of Corporate Communications, Justice Tienabeso Bibiye said the issues raised by the organizing is subject to a litigation in Suit No. NICN/PHC/28/2025-PILEX Centre for Civic Education & Comrade Okpabi Josiah Jonathan VS Obewon Ltd & IEFL filed on May 5, 2025 at the National Industrial Court in Port Harcourt, and adjourned to 14th and 15th October, 2025, and suit No. NICN/PHC/27/2025-Оkpabi Josiah Jonathan VS Obewon Ltd & IEFL still before the National Industrial Court in Port Harcourt, and adjourned to 14th October, 2025.
The company advised the organisation to exercise restrain while the suit continues, urging members of the public to contenounce the contents of the organisation’s press statement.
Bibiye said: “That as a good corporate citizen of Nigeria, Indorama has, over the years, consistently demonstrated its commitment to strict adherence to the laws of the land, and total compliance to judicial processes.
”That we urge Pilex Centre and Mr. Okpabi, who initiated these legal actions to exercise patience and allow the judicial process to reach its logical conclusion”.
Furthermore, it added, “We urge the public to disregard the accusations in the press statement, as they are spurious and unfounded.
“That Indorama-Nigeria remains committed to full implementation of its policies on environment and climate change as well as occupational health, safety and well-being policy built on an enduring culture of integrity and excellence”.
