I’m Committed to Enthroning Riverine Governor in 2019 ~ Amaechi

Former governor of Rivers State, Rt Hon Chibuike Amaechi, has said that he is committed to the enthronement of a Riverine governor in 2019, and called for the support of all Rivers people towards actualizing this.
Rt. Hon. Chibuike Amaechi who is the leader of the All Progressive Congress (APC), in Rivers State made this known at Rumuokwuta, in Obio/Akpor Local Government Area, during a reception hosted in his honour by the Ikwerre APC Chiefs and Elders Forum, on Saturday, February10, 2018.

Amaechi said, it is not yet the turn of the Ogonis to occupy the Brick House, though he described them as completely qualified and having all it takes to be governor of the state. “I, as an Ikwerre man, have been governor of Rivers State for 8 years, Wike is completing a 4-year term, and we should vote him out in 2019, for a Riverine governor,” he said.

The minister recalled that, he has done a lot for his Ikwerre ethnic nationality, adding that during his tenure as governor, he empowered a lot of Ikwerre people and awarded indigenes scholarships to advance their education.

He assured that, he will continue to do his best for the Ikwerres, as well as the entire Rivers people, and thanked the Ikwerre APC Chiefs and Elders Forum for honoring him.

Earlier, in his speech, chairman of Ikwerre APC Chiefs and Elders Forum, Chief Sunny Dike has expressed pleasure in the visit of the Transportation minister, describing him as an illustrious and worthy son of Ikwerre.

Chief Sunny Dike told the former governor of Rivers State that Ikwerre APC Chiefs and Elders Forum was formed to mobilize and galvanize support for APC from the four Ikwerre LGAs, and beyond.

Chief Sunny Dike regretted that some Ikwerre persons “who were nobody before but were helped to attain heights by Rt. Hon Chibuike Amaechi, are those betraying the Transportation minister today,” as he begged for forgiveness for them.

In his remarks, the deputy chairman of Ikwerre APC Chiefs and Elders Forum, Chief (Hon.) Engr, Sir Appolos Emenike Amadi, had hailed the visit of Rt Hon. Chibuike Amaechi to the Forum, and described it as long  expected, and  a welcome development.

Chief Appolos Amadi noted that, the Transportation minister specifically brought the police post at Aluu, in Ikwerre LGA, which has continued to protect them.

Chief Amadi, who was one time member of Federal House of Representatives for Ikwerre and Emohua Federal constituency, declared the forum’s loyalty and Support to Rt. Hon. Amaechi and excitedly lauded him for his developmental strides in Rivers State during his tenure as governor.

Coordinators of the forum’s four LGAs, who spoke, praised the efforts of the APC leader in Rivers State and wished him the best, while pledging their continued loyalty and support.

Speaking to news men shortly after the event, the publicity secretary of the forum, Mr. Godwin Woha expressed total joy to the minister, saying that the Forum will continue to remain thankful and grateful to him.

Woha, while assuring APC of victory in 2019, urged all to use the opportunity of the current ongoing voter’s registration exercise by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), to register and obtain their PVC, which he said will qualify them to vote on the election day.
