The saying that says a golden fish has no hiding place played out recently when the chairman, Caretaker Committee of Ikwerre Local Government Area, Chief Dr Darlington Orji, was bestowed with an award as a Distinguished Political Icon by the Niger Delta Media Forum.
The award, the group said, was for his outstanding leadership prowess and commitment to the development of Ikwerre Local Government Area and its people as well as Rivers State and the Niger Delta in general.
According to the chairman of the group, Prince Gbasam, Dr Orji was honoured for redefining local government administration in just few weeks in the saddle as chairman of Ikwerre local council, where the people are beginning to feel the positive impact through several empowerment programs and policies under his leadership as well as the political sagacity which he has exhibited in the wake of the political crises which engulfed the state.
He described the awardee as a role model, adding that the award was intended to spur him to continue with the good work that he is doing in the local government area which is line with the mantra ‘Rivers People First’ of the Governor Siminalayi Fubara-led administration in the state.
Responding, the CTC chairman commended the Niger Delta Media Forum for the honor and recognition, assuring that he will continue to do his best in the interest of the people in the area and the state in general.
He used the opportunity to call on the people of the state to continue to support the administration of Sir Siminialayi Fubara who he said has come redeem the state and reposition it for accelerated development in the interest of the generality of the state.
