IGP Unit Arrest Suspected Armed Robbers in Rivers


The Inspector General of Police Monitoring Unit in Rivers State has reportedly gunned down two suspected cultists terrorizing Alakahia-Choba communities in Obio-Akpor Local Government Area of Rivers State.

The operatives of the IGP monitoring Unit led by the acting commander, Justin Adaka, also arrested three suspected armed robbers and others allegedly terrorizing communities in Eleme Local Government Area of the state.

Our correspondent gathered that one of the suspected cultists (name withheld), and another simply identified as Amabe were gun down last night in a shoot-out with the men of the IGP monitoring Unit around Alakahia-Rumuosi-Choba linked road.

The acting commander of IGP monitoring Unit in Aluu Community in Ikwerre, Justin Adaka who confirmed the incident said Isaac Opele, Dickson Igofa and one other were arrested at their hide-out and camp in Agboncha forest in Eleme.

Adaka who a Superintendent of Police expressed the unit’s commitment to work with other security agencies to curb crime in the state, as he urged members of the public to assist the police with useful information.

Our correspondent also said that items recovered during the operations include one AK-47 rifle, with six live ammunition, one magazine and two expanded cartridges.
