The Bayelsa State Handball Team has facilitated with Governor Douye Diri on his election for a second term.
The team’s secretary, Mr. Dimie Okara, who spoke with newsmen in Yenagoa before the team’s departure for Lagos for the second phase of the Ardova Handball Premier League on Tuesday November 14, 2023, attributed Diri’s victory to his good stewardship especially in sports during his first term in office.
He also commended Diri for his fair-mindedness and even spread of infrastructural projects to all sections and segments of the state in his first term, especially his investment in sports as shown in the performances of the athletes and sports teams in the state.
Meanwhile, chairman of the Handball Association in the state, Dcn. James Dugo, who doubles as technical adviser to the governor, said that as a result of the governor’s interest in developing the youths in the state through sports, the Bayelsa State Handball Team has been able to win three trophies since he assumed office in 2019.
He equally appreciated the deputy governor, Senator Lawrence Ewhrudjakpo, for his efforts towards the state athletes and teams.
He also appreciated the people of the state for taking their destiny in their hands by their massive support for the governor.
Bayelsa Queens (Handball) left Yenagoa for Lagos for the Second phase of the Ardova Handball Premier League, where they’ll be hoping to avoid the drop to the second teir of the Handball Division.
